TaxSlayer, a leading online and professional tax and financial company, is embracing technology and innovation by opening a new, state-of-the-art campus in downtown Augusta, Georgia. The company purchased a 100-year old building in the city's historic Broad Street district and, after months of intense renovations, successfully transformed the interior into a modern workspace inspired by Silicon Valley.

"TaxSlayer is shifting from a tax company to a tech company," says TaxSlayer President and CEO, Brian Rhodes. "In order to provide the best technology for our customers, we need to be where the energy is. Downtown Augusta is undergoing a revitalization, and this new campus provides the environment we need to create products that respond to the demands of the modern era."

Other major players like the U.S. Cyber Center of Excellence, the Army Cyber Command, and the Augusta University Cyber Institute have converged in Augusta, turning the city on the Savannah River into a virtual epicenter of American cybersecurity. By opening their Innovation and Technology campus in this new location, TaxSlayer is asserting its position at the hub of the activity.

"This building was a multimillion-dollar investment for the company," says Scott Rhodes, TaxSlayer's Vice President and CFO. "It is a vital part of our vision for the future, which begins with attracting more of the country's top talent to Augusta."

TaxSlayer's aim was to create a modern, tech-inspired workspace while preserving the integrity of the original structure, built in 1923.  "With the ITC, we want to encourage growth by providing a place where creativity and collaboration can flourish. We want the space to get people excited about coming to work every day," said TaxSlayer's Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Ashleigh Rhodes Wilder.

The new office can accommodate over 200 full-time employees working across nine departments. The interior of the building boasts open floor plans and collaborative work spaces throughout each of its five stories. Every department occupies their own space, but employees are encouraged to move about and utilize the different floors to their advantage.

Modern-day perks like an in-house fitness center, arcade games, cashless vending, standing desks, interactive touch screens, and huddle rooms make this new campus an especially desirable place to work.

"TaxSlayer is deeply rooted here in the Augusta area. We wanted to show our commitment to the community and plant our stake in downtown Augusta with the restoration of this historic building," says Brian Rhodes.

The grand opening of the TaxSlayer Innovation and Technology Campus will be held on Wednesday, March 20th, 2019. TaxSlayer's previous headquarters, now known as the Customer Excellence Center, still serves more than 300 additional full-time and seasonal employees.
