“To Be A Caregiver: The Journey of Elder Care” at August Women in Business August 15th

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Thursday, July 27th, 2017

The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce Women in Business luncheon, presented by Doctors Hospital, will be held on Tuesday, August 15 at 11:30 am at the Legends Club. The program will feature guest speaker Megan Rhea of the Area Agency on Aging for a presentation on the resources and support available in the CSRA for those taking on the role of caregiver and navigating elder care.

Surveys show nearly a third of U.S. households care for a senior or disabled family member, and 66% of these caregivers are professional women balancing work, family and more.

While a rewarding experience, it can be a complicated journey. Megan will speak on services and information available in the Augusta region to assist the role of caregiver.

Megan Rhea was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina at the Marine Corp base, Camp Lejeune. After moving across country several times, her family planted roots in Augusta, where she has lived most of her life. After graduating from Georgia Southern University in 2013 with a degree in Anthropology, Megan moved back to Augusta and worked as an archaeologist for two years. In January 2015, she started at the Area Agency on Aging as a Project Administrative Assistant and was promoted to Caregiver Program Coordinator that August. Due to her own care-giving journey, Megan is passionate about her work and is an advocate for all caregivers and their loved ones.

Tickets for the luncheon are $30 for Chamber members and $40 for prospective-members.  To register, visit the Events Calendar at AugustaMetroChamber.com. Deadline to register is Friday, August 11.
