Columbia County’s Stormwater Utility Prepares for Hurricane Irma

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Thursday, September 7th, 2017

Columbia County’s Stormwater Utility department is being proactive this week as the county prepares for the possibility of Hurricane Irma. Crews are out inspecting potential flood areas as well as clearing and performing maintenance to any culvert and drain areas.

Stormwater Utility will continue to monitor the path of Hurricane Irma and have equipment ready to stage in potential flood areas as needed.

The department encourages citizens not to throw anything in the drain area(s) in the time leading up to the potential impact of Irma; this especially includes any grass clippings.
