IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta Returns for Next Three Years

The Board of Directors for the Augusta Sports Council is pleased to announce we will again host IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta for the next three years. The dates are September 23, 2018, September 29, 2019, and September 27, 2020.

The triathlon includes a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and a 13.1-mile run. The IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta is currently the largest IRONMAN 70.3 in North America, second largest in the world registering 3,750 athletes from around the world in addition to hosting their friends and family each year. The event has sold out for all nine years of its existence.

The ASC estimates a total economic impact value of over $40 million with 34,000 registered athletes from 2009-2017.
 
Michael Ash, Chairman of the Board of Directors, says, "We are pleased IRONMAN has offered us a renewal. Our event continues to grown in popularity for first-timers as well as professionals. The ASC works in cooperation with our Georgia and South Carolina State government agencies and municipalities, corporate sponsorships and community volunteers to provide an amazing event year after year. We look forward to continuing the tradition of this event for the next three years."

This year's RONMAN 70.3 Augusta was another success. Jesse Thomas and Sarah True were the 2017 male and female champions on Sunday, with Thomas breaking a course record of 3 hours and 42 minutes. For a complete list of athlete results, click here.
