Augusta Welcomes the Georgia Council of Auxiliaries and Volunteers

The Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to welcome the Georgia Council of Auxiliaries and Volunteers for their annual 3-day conference being held at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center October 15-17. This annual conference will bring together 450 volunteers from all over the state of Georgia to learn new ideas and methods of serving their hospitals and communities.
 
The Georgia Council of Auxiliaries and Volunteers was founded in 1957 and currently has 70 hospital auxiliaries throughout the state. During the 2016-2017 year, these auxilians numbered 5,956, volunteering a total of 1,068,482 hours, and contributing funds totaling $3.5 million. In addition, the auxiliaries gave over $466,150 to their communities. There are 39 Volunteen programs, 57 auxiliary gift shops, and 47 hospitals with scholarships for students entering the medical field. The Georgia Council offers the training needed to ensure each auxiliary offers practical help to its health care facility while performing essential services.
