The recent Georgia Department of Transportation project awards unveiled planned improvements to State Route 16/Augusta Highway in Hancock County.

Pittman Construction Company was low bidder for the $1.89 million milling, plant mix resurfacing, single surface treatment paving and shoulder rehabilitation on SR 16 from west of SR 15 to the Warren County line. This covers over an 11-mile roadway section.

The completion date of September 30, 2018 means construction should begin in the warmer months next year.

Georgia DOT will announce schedules and closure expectations when finalized.
