Augusta Welcomes Former Defense and FBI Leader as New Savannah River National Laboratory Director at Chamber’s Member Economic Luncheon

The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present an insightful Member Economic Luncheon program with guest speaker Dr. Vahid Majidi giving an update on future plans for the Savannah River National Laboratory. The luncheon, presented by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, will be held Tuesday, April 24 at the Legends Club and will begin at 11:30 am.

Dr. Vahid Majidi is the SRNS Executive Vice President and SRNL Director, and is a decorated former member of the senior executive service and senior intelligence service with direct reporting responsibilities to the Secretary of Defense, Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters, and from 2006 to 2012, he was the Assistant Director for the Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate at the FBI. Prior to that, he was appointed by the Deputy Attorney General to serve as the Chief Science Advisor to the Department of Justice and was detailed from Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Most recently, Vahid was Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies, Inc. Before joining the Department of Defense, Vahid served as the Chief Scientist for Infrastructure Protection & Security business unit at TASC Inc., and the Director of University Multispectral Laboratories focusing on national security, homeland security and issues concerning advanced technologies.
