The Richmond County Marshal’s Office Airport Division welcomes their first K-9 Unit! On March 21st K-9, Abby, and her handler, Deputy Boetcher, were tested and certified by the International Police Working Dog Association.

Abby, is a one and half year old black lab that will be playing an important role at the Airport, keeping the traveling public safe. Abby was named after the Roman goddess Abeona, who was known as the goddess of outward journeys and whose role was to watch over travelers on their expeditions.

“In my previous roles I worked closely with Airport K9 operations and understand the value they bring, said Mr. Herbert Judon Jr., Airport Executive Director. “I am excited that the Marshals and the Airport were able to work collaboratively to bring this significant security enhancement to AGS.”

Marshal Ramone Lamkin stated, “having Abby on our team significantly strengthens our multilayered law enforcement and security program at Augusta Regional Airport”.

Abby and her handler will be assigned to the Airport where they will work daily to insure the safety of the facility and it’s passengers.
