Family YMCA of Greater Augusta Gives Back to Richmond County Schools

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018

The Richmond County School system and the Family Y of Greater Augusta have had a partnership for decades providing invaluable after school programs in 18 Richmond County schools, serving more than 750 children in grades K – 8.  The Family YMCA’s PrimeTime After School Care provides all of this in a safe, well-supervised environment provided by the schools. Kids participate in a variety of skill-building games, crafts, outdoor activities, homework time and curriculums which reinforce character development, reading, science and math.

In appreciation of the generosity of the Richmond County Board of Education hosting these programs in their schools, the Y is giving back, with an unrestricted gift of $10,000 to be used for any purpose, whether it be facility maintenance, teachers’ school supplies or curriculum materials.

Joshua Nolan the Executive Director of Youth Development will present the gift to Bobby Smith, Chief Financial Officer at the Richmond County Board of Education Administrative Offices, 864 Broad Street, Friday, May 25 at 11:30 a.m.
