Fifteen students have each won a $3,000 Savannah River Nuclear Solutions Family Scholarship, received at a special ceremony recently held at Newberry Hall, in Aiken, S.C. The winners are sons and daughters of SRNS employees.  Since 2009, $450,000 in scholarships has been presented to area students as a part of this program.

The scholarships are awarded to graduating high school students based on general ability, leadership and scholastic achievement, recognizing the top students participating in the competition.

“The accomplishments of these young adults, in academics, sports and community outreach, are exceptional by any standard,” said Stuart MacVean, SRNS President and CEO. “I’m confident a rewarding college experience and career lies ahead for each of them. And hopefully, one day, they will join our ‘family’ at SRNS.”

Through the Family Scholarship Program, SRNS employees see the value their company places
on the importance of a high quality education.

“It’s an honor for me to be one of the only students to receive this scholarship from Richmond County,” said Westside High School senior Taylor Lewis. “I’ve watched my dad work at the site as a mechanical engineer for the longest time, and I’d like one day to work there as well following a similar career path.”
