Columbia County Chamber Hosts Administration and Teachers in Business Day

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Tuesday, August 28th, 2018

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce will host its Administration and Teachers In Business Day on Thursday, August 30.

A partnership of the Columbia County Chamber Foundation and the Columbia County School System, Administration and Teachers In Business Day is a coordinated tour of local businesses for 40 Columbia County educators. Since 2013, the Chamber has hosted this program with various groups of educators such as principals, CTAE teachers, STEM teachers and guidance counselors.

A new approach this year will be a stop-and-go tour focused on various industries and the career needs of each. The goal of the program is to understand the career opportunities available within a variety of companies and industries in our own region. As part of the bus tour, educators will learn about economic development indicators for our community and the expected growth and change for the coming years.

The participants will begin the day at the Board of Education office with a breakfast and overview, followed by a presentation on nuclear and energy careers. They will then load a bus where they will visit businesses representing different local industries to learn about the processes and diverse career opportunities available.

Companies participating in this year’s program include: John Deere Commercial Products, ADP, Bennett Distribution, Nutritional Resources, GIW Minerals, Augusta Tech Grovetown Campus, FL Smidth, U.S. Battery, Georgia Power, The Claiborne at West Lake, Georgia Cyber Innovation Center, UNISYS, University Healthcare, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, SRSCRO, Ivey Residential and Augusta Staffing.
