Students and teachers at Georgia Cyber Academy will start the 2018-2019 school year on August 10. Opened in 2007, GCA is a full-time, tuition free online public charter school open to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade throughout the state.

“After more than 10 years as a trusted public education option for Georgia families, we are excited to start the new school year at GCA,” said Head of School Angela Lassetter. “Every student enrolls with unique needs, experiences and goals, and our online learning platform and dedicated staff are set up to support their success.”

GCA combines innovative technology with a rigorous curriculum led by Georgia-certified teachers. Students take a full course load across the core subjects of math, science, language arts, history and art, as well as a variety of electives, honors and Advanced Placement courses at the high school level.

Eligible GCA students wishing to get a head start on earning college credits can take advantage of the Georgia Dual Enrollment Program, by enrolling in college courses while still in high school. According to the College Board, the average cost of tuition and fees at private colleges in 2017-2018 was nearly $35,000. Completing college courses before high school graduation can potentially deliver cost savings for students and families before they begin full-time enrollment in higher education.

Throughout the school year, GCA builds a sense of community through in-person field trips, community service opportunities and social outings. Graduating seniors are celebrated at an in-person commencement ceremony each spring, and many go on to attend top colleges and universities across the country.
