Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr., announces a volunteer drive for the MBK Power Lunch Program that brings together businesses and community partners with Richmond County Elementary School students as “Reading Mentors.”  The event is Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Augusta Richmond County Library, Main Branch from 5:30PM-7:00PM. In the Power Lunch Program, a Reading Mentor reads with a 2nd or 3rd grade elementary school student weekly during the student’s lunch hour.

The 2018-2019 school year is the third year the Mayor’s office has collaborated with Dr. Pringle and her elementary school principles to bring Power Lunch to those students who need help attaining good scores in reading.

“Power Lunch is a great way to engage our broader community to assure our children that we are committed to investing in them and their success and I hope the community will join us in this effort,” said Davis.
