First Annual Field of Pink Display at Augusta Regional Airport

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Augusta Regional Airport is pleased to present the Field of Pink display.  The Field of Pink will consist of pink flags planted around the Airport entrance sign to honor those who have fought the breast cancer battle. The commemorative flags will remain in place for the entire month of October.

Everyone is invited to join the Airport in the effort to bring awareness to this terrible disease that affects one out of every eight women in the US. The Airport will have extra pink flags for sale to the public for one dollar ($1), although larger contributions are welcomed and appreciated. All monies received will be donated to the University Health Care Foundation to support the Annual Miracle Mile Walk scheduled for October 20, 2018, which raises money for the fight against breast cancer.

To join the cause, simply come to the Airport receptionist located on the second floor of the passenger terminal building during regular office hours (8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday). Write the name of a friend or loved one impacted by breast cancer on one or more of the pink flags and they will be placed in the Field of Pink display shortly thereafter.

The Field of Pink display will be an annual event at Augusta Regional Airport with the expectation of growing the display and community participation in years to come.
