Lt. Governor Cagle Announces Jay Matthews Appointed to Georgia Department of Driver Services Board of Directors

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle announced that Jay Matthews has been appointed to serve on the Georgia Department of Driver Services Board of Directors.

“Jay’s experience in public service equips him with the tools to serve the commission and the state of Georgia well,” said Lt. Governor Cagle. “I am confident that Jay will provide guidance and helpful insight in accomplishing the mission of the DDS, improving customer service, protecting the safety and identity of our state’s drivers, and providing enhanced homeland security and highway safety.”

“I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors of DDS and guide the agency towards future advancements and achievements,” said Jay Matthews. “I look forward to working with the members of the Georgia Department of Driver Services to further Georgia’s reputation as a leader in highway and driver safety.”

Jay Matthews was elected to chairman of the Lamar County Board of Commissioners in November of 2006, faithfully serving for several years. Born and raised in Lamar County, Jay previously works with Georgia Rural Water to serve public and private water and waste water systems in Georgia. He has been actively involved in Lamar County with several civic and community causes, including membership in the Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Development Authority, and the Rotary Club of Barnesville.
