Evans Towne Center Park will play host to several large events in the month of May.

Columbia County will kick off the month with a larger than normal Farmers Market on Thursday, May 2nd from 4pm until 8pm. The Farmers Market is presented by REC TEC Grills and Cadence Bank. This market will feature a variety of local produce vendors, face painting, petting zoo, food trucks, and Make it at the Market with AR Workshop where you can make and take a pillow, tote bag, or wooden sign for Mom! The only other Farmers Market in May will be held on Thursday, May 30th.

Saturday, May 4th is Cinco Saturday! This event offers something for everyone. Presented by REC TEC Grills and Security Federal Bank – Come and out and enjoy margarita bars, beer, food, inflatables, train rides, AND live Latin music by the Marcel Portilla Band and dance performances by Latin Heritage Dance Company. Saturday Cinema, also Saturday, May 4th, presented by REC TEC Grills and Doctors Hospital. We’ll begin at dark, around 8:30pm with a Cinco de Mayo inspired choice, Disney/Pixar’s award winning Coco. Entry to this event is FREE for the whole family.

On Friday, May 10th, the Columbia County Exchange Club presents Party in the Park. This is a FREE event featuring country music’s rising stars and hit song writers. This year’s performers are Brent Anderson, Cole Taylor, Ray Fulcher, Jordan Walker, Shane Minor, and Andy Albert. They’ve written country hits for Luke Combs, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Florida Georgia Line, Carrie Underwood, Dustin Lynch and more!

Party in the Park will be followed by the annual Augusta Symphony performance and fireworks display that make up Pops in the Park. On Saturday, May 11th, you’re invited to join us for a FREE showing of Disney’s Fantasia 2000 followed by a FREE symphony performance and fireworks. This year’s event is presented by REC TEC Grills and Bank of America. Hours are 4pm until 9pm and families can enjoy a variety of activities before the stage performance. A second Pops in the Park performance, featuring the Columbia County All-Star Band will occur on Saturday, June 1st.
On Saturday, May 18th Columbia County hosts Thunder Over Evans. This exciting FREE annual event is the CSRA’s public celebration of Armed Forces Day – the perfect opportunity to bring together the public and the military for a fun filled day of events and a tribute to those who serve. Thunder’s EXTREME fireworks show finale is a thrill ride, one of the South’s largest fireworks shows. Event hours are 10am until 10pm.

In observance of Memorial Day, the county will also host a Memorial Day ceremony at Memorial Gardens Park (located behind the Evans Library). This ceremony will take place on Monday, May 27th at sunrise, around 6:30am. Please join us in honoring the men and women who gave their lives while serving in the U.S. Military.
