In October of 2018, the Air Force Association's (AFA) CyberPatriot Program Office announced the Fort Gordon Cyber District (Alliance for Cyber Education) as its newest CyberPatriot Center of Excellence.

Now, thanks to the following sponsors the Alliance for Fort Gordon and the Georgia Cyber Center will conduct our areas first regional CyberPatriot Camp: SRP Federal Credit Union, Georgia Technology Authority, Unisys, and the Fort Gordon Spouses & Civilian Club.

The Camp is sponsored by the Fort Gordon Cyber District (Alliance for Cybersecurity Education) and hosted at the Georgia Cyber Center and will take place June 10-14, 2019. Fifty students have been selected to attend.

What is CyberPatriot: CyberPatriot, the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association (AFA) to inspire students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future.

CyberPatriot CyberCamps emphasize fun, hands-on learning of cyber security principles that are relevant and applicable to everyday life as well as prepare students for a career in cyber security. CyberPatriot CyberCamp is open to any student entering 6th - 12th grade in the fall.

This will help our regions need to grow CyberPatriot professionals because at the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. The competition puts teams of high school and middle school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. In the rounds of competition, teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services. Teams compete for the top placement within their state and region, and the top teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Baltimore, MD for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.
