GDOT Awards $59M in Construction Contracts for May

Georgia DOT awarded 28 construction contracts for statewide transportation projects totaling $59,092,445. The projects included in the award were advertised on April 19, bids were received on May 17, and contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on May 31.  

The largest single investment contract totals $16.7 million and was awarded to Gosalia Concrete Constructors and Southern Concrete Construction Co., Inc. The company was hired to rehabilitate 17.35 miles of concrete on I-285/State Route 407, from State Route 331 to I-285/State Route 407 in Cobb and Fulton counties. This resurfacing project extends from north of Roosevelt Highway to south of Paces Ferry Road. This contract, along with five other maintenance contracts, represent 47 percent or $27.8 million of the awarded funds.

The second largest investment contract, worth $9.3 million, was awarded to Southeastern Site Development and Southern Concrete Construction Co., Inc. The companies were hired to construct over half a mile of bridge on State Route 253 over Spring Creek in Decatur County. This contract, along with two other bridge construction contracts, represent 19 percent or $11.4 million of the awarded funds.

The remaining 34 percent or $19.8 million is allotted for additional safety, construction and resurfacing projects at various locations across the state.

The May awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2019 to $670 million. Fiscal Year 2019 began July 1, 2018.
