Lt. Governor Duncan Announces Members of Three Senate Study Committees

Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan announced the members of three Senate Study Committees: SR 202 (Senate Study Committee on Evaluating and Simplifying Physician Oversight of Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses), SR 353 (Senate Study Committee on Community Schools), and SR 371 (Senate Protections from Sexual Predators Study Committee).

“The Senate’s priorities reflect those of Georgians across the state: community safety, education, and health care,” said Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan. “These study committees will allow our Senators to continue making deliberate, informed decisions on the critical issues that impact each Georgia family. I look forward to reviewing the final recommendations that stem from the hard work of our chairmen and appointed members.”

The Senate Study Committee on Evaluating and Simplifying Physician Oversight of Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses will be chaired by Sen. Chuck Hufstetler (R – Rome). The Senate members appointed to serve on this committee are:

Sen. Gloria Butler (D – Stone Mountain)

Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick (R – Marietta)

Sen. Renee Unterman (R – Buford)

Sen. Ben Watson (R – Savannah)

The Senate Study Committee on Community Schools will be chaired by Sen. P.K. Martin (R – Lawrenceville). The Senate members appointed to serve on this committee are:

Sen. Matt Brass (R – Newnan)

Sen. Emanuel Jones (D – Decatur)

Sen. Nan Orrock (D – Atlanta)

Sen. Lindsey Tippins (R – Marietta)

The Senate Protections from Sexual Predators Study Committee will be chaired by Sen. Renee Unterman (R – Buford). The Senate members appointed to serve on this committee are:

Sen. John Albers (R - Roswell)

Sen. Greg Kirk (R – Americus)

Sen. Kay Kirkpatrick (R - Marietta)

Sen. Randy Robertson (R - Columbus)

These study committees were established pursuant to SR 202, SR 353, and SR 371 which the Senate adopted during the 2019 legislative session.
