Lt. Governor Duncan Announces Members of Three Senate Study Committees

Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan announced the members of three Senate Study Committees: SR 304 (Senate Athletic Association Study Committee), SR 366 (Senate Passenger Vehicle Seat Safety Belt Study Committee), and SR 452 (Senate Study Committee on the Financial Efficiency Star Rating (FESR)).
 
“The Georgia Senate will continue to utilize the summer to perform in-depth studies on important issues and prepare legislative action items which will allow our state to continue thriving,” said Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan. “Issues involving community safety, education, and youth athletics are important to Georgians in every part of our state. I look forward to the hard work of our Chairmen and appointed Senators.”
 
The Senate Athletic Association Study Committee will be chaired by Sen. Bruce Thompson (R – White). The Senate members appointed to serve on this committee are:
 
Sen. Lester Jackson (D – Savannah)

Sen. Zahra Karinshak (D – Duluth)

Sen. Chuck Payne (R – Dalton)

Sen. Blake Tillery (R – Vidalia)
 
The Senate Passenger Vehicle Seat Safety Belt Study Committee will be chaired by Sen. John Albers (R - Roswell). The Senate members appointed to serve on this committee are:
 
Sen. Tonya Anderson (D – Lithonia)

Sen. Bill Cowsert (R – Athens)

Sen. Donzella James (D – Atlanta)

Sen. Chuck Payne (R – Dalton)
 
The Senate Study Committee on the Financial Efficiency Star Rating (FESR) will be chaired by Sen. Lindsey Tippins (R - Marietta). The Senate members appointed to serve on this committee are:
 
Sen. Ellis Black (R – Valdosta)

Sen. Emanuel Jones (D - Decatur)

Sen. Jennifer Jordan (D - Atlanta)

Sen. Jesse Stone (R – Waynesboro)
 
These study committees were established pursuant to SR 304, SR 366, and SR 452 which the Senate adopted during the 2019 legislative session.
