Augusta/CSRA Habitat for Humanity and Bank of America came together in the South Augusta area as part of Bank of America’s sixth Global Build in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. From October 5-12, a record number of nearly 2,800 bank volunteers are working alongside homeowners to help build, rehabilitate or repairs homes, helping to address affordable housing needs in 108 communities across ten countries, the largest Global Build to date.

Activities in Augusta included land clearing for a new home. Instead of building a home on this site, Augusta/CSRA Habitat for Humanity be moving a home in Evans to Faith Village and remodeling it with the help of Bank of America. The home, currently on land being sold for commercial use, was scheduled for demolition until the owners decided to donate it for a good cause.

“Affordable housing is fundamental for individuals and families to achieve economic mobility,” said Ora Parrish, Augusta market president, Bank of America. “Partnering with Habitat and engaging our volunteers is one way we can help build a more sustainable Augusta community as part of our approach to responsible growth.”

The build events in Augusta are part of the week-long effort that are taking place throughout Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, South Africa, and the U.S.

Habitat and Bank of America have partnered for more than 30 years, helping homeowners build or improve the places they call home. Each year, #BofAVolunteers give more than 40,000 hours to Habitat in their communities through board service, home build initiatives and financial literacy training for future Habitat homeowners.
