Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Tuesday, February 11th, 2020

Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr. invites the local media to join him and the Co-Chairpersons of the Augusta Local 2020 Census Complete Count Committee for the purpose of announcing the 2020 Census Launch event. The committee is Co-Chaired by Mr. Clint Bryant and Mr. Robert Osborne.  Mr. Bryant and Mr. Osborne will be key to providing the census collaboration needed between state, local government, communities, and the Census Bureau.

The data collected during the April 1, 2020 Census can impact our community in many ways, from drawing federal, state, and local legislative districts to the distribution of over $675 billion annually in federal funds across the country for needs such as infrastructure, attracting new businesses and education.

Also, for the first time in the history of the census, residents will be able to participate in the census online either by computer or smart device. “This online initiative demonstrates the importance of participation.  Now you can respond to the census anytime anywhere.  This capability will be very helpful to our community to include our hard-to-count areas because we all count,” Davis said.
