Columbia County Chamber In Support of TSPLOST 2

 The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and its Board of Directors have announced their support for the continuation of the county’s penny sales tax for TSPLOST (Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax).
 
“The Transportation SPLOST is a 13 county regional vote to build or improve identified transportation projects. The Chamber believes a sales tax is the fairest way to fund the continued need of infrastructure in our fast growing area.” said Tammy Shepherd, President/CEO of the Chamber. “Connectivity and quality of life for our businesses and residents is a major attractor for Columbia County and the CSRA.”
 
The TSPLOST, a one-cent sales tax on $1, will be used to fund many major road widening project in Columbia County to include Hereford Farm Road and Hardy McManus Road as well as the Euchee Creek Greenway and sidewalks. Funds may also be used for intersection improvements, repaving, and safety issues related to road improvements.
 
Under the current TSPLOST collection, 2013-2022, Columbia County will benefit from 8 major road projects. The projects already completed include Riverwatch Parkway, Robinson Ave, and Wrightsboro Road while Flowing Wells Road, Fury’s Ferry Road, Lewiston Road, Horizon South Parkway, and bridge work at the I-20 Harlem interchange are in design or pre-engineering stages. Several of these projects will break ground by summer.
 
Vote “Yes’ on your Presidential Preference Primary ballot on March 24th for the renewal of the TSPLOST. Early voting begins March 2nd.
