Business Innovation: Adapting in an Evolving Environment, April 21st Webinar

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Tuesday, April 21st, 2020

Join the Augusta Metro Chamber on Tuesday, April 21 at 3:00 pm for an inspired webinar about ways businesses are adapting in our new and evolving environment.  Havird Usry of Fat Man’s Hospitality Group; Frank Andrew with Carole Fabrics; and Leighton Lunger of Profile by Sanford - Augusta will share how they are leading innovation through ways of service and production, how it has contributed to our community during this uncertain time, and what their perspective is on the future of innovation in regards to our adjusted way of life.

Havird Usry, born and raised in Augusta, is a partner alongside his father, Brad Usry, in Fat Man’s Hospitality Group.  The group includes Fat Man’s Café & Catering, Enterprise Mill Events and The Southern Salad.  The duo, who pride themselves on their Augusta roots, great food and even better Southern hospitality, recently launched Fat Man’s Café: Renovate & Update.  A catering & delivery food service filling orders from several businesses who have ordered boxed lunches and dinners to serve to healthcare professionals and first responders.  They have also teamed up alongside some of those businesses offering gift cards to schedule food deliveries for others.

Frank Andrew is the president of Carole Fabrics, a manufacturer of custom window treatments that has been a part of the Augusta community for 60 years.  In the last few weeks, as demand for their core products began to decline, Frank's team at Carole pivoted their production focus to reusable face masks to help stem the spread of Covid-19.  What started out as a small side project to provide masks to first responders has now grown to include businesses, individuals, law enforcement and others in need around the CSRA and beyond.  To date, Carole has made nearly 15,000 masks, with output growing daily.

Leighton Lunger is the manager of Profile by Sanford, the weight loss and health coaching program based on nutrition, lifestyle, and fitness created by Sanford Health, a nation-leading research hospital system.  Leighton is a certified health coach and is passionate about leading others to live a healthier lifestyle, prevent disease, and feel more confident.  Profile's members in Augusta have lost almost 2,000 pounds since opening in late October.  Recently, Profile by Sanford has completely switched to onboarding new individuals with health plans virtually, and still offers their food health plans through curbside pickup.

These complimentary virtual events are part of the Augusta Metro Chamber’s Achieving More Virtually Web Series and are hosted on GoToWebinar, a platform for businesses to create and deliver online events and videoconferences in an engaging environment.  Visit augustametrochamber.com/events for further webinar details and registration information.
