Caleb Morris Receives Eagle Scout Project of the Year Accolade

The Georgia-Carolina Council, BSA is pleased to congratulate Caleb Morris of Augusta whose Eagle Scout Service Project was selected by the Georgia-Carolina Council National Eagle Scout Association Committee as its Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year. Caleb’s project will be submitted to the National Eagle Scout Association to compete for the Southern Region Service Project of the Year.

Caleb’s service project consisted of improving the sensory riding trail for Great Oaks Equine Assisted Programs – This included the design building and installation has 5 sensory stations including a gate for riders to operate, a basketball goal, a mail box, a bag toss game and wind chimes. The project took 211 service hours by Caleb and his team.

Jacob Gabriel Perry of Harlem was first runner up. His service project for the Euchee Environmental Expansion Project at Euchee Elementary School was to restore and repair a greenhouse - install hydroponic table - install permanent power supply - create instruction manual and experts contact sheet. A work station and an area for growing potted saplings was also provided. This service project took 143 service hours to complete.

Charles Perry Zorn of Augusta was second runner up. For Charlie’s service project, he designed and built a beginner to intermediate orienteering course at Barnwell State Park with 16 way points. Each way point has a customized engraved plaque. He also donated bags with the park’s logo which contain everything needed to complete the course including a compass and instructions. This service project took 87.30 service hours to complete.

During 2019, 73 Scouts in the Georgia Carolina Council achieved the rank of Eagle. To complete their Eagle service projects, they and their teams preformed over 8,800 hours of service to the CSRA.
