The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce launched a new program back in April that gives back to frontline Healthcare worker’s families, “Cards for Caring, You Take Care of Us, Let Us Care Of Your Family.” This program allowed the community to donate in $25, $50 and $100 increments through the Chamber’s website and the Chamber purchased gift cards from area chamber restaurants members that were distributed to the three local hospitals. The goal was to help provide for the healthcare workers family while supporting local restaurant members.

The Chamber is happy to report that our goal of 100 gift cards to each of the three hospitals was exceeded and each of the three hospitals received over 125 gift cards, bringing the total value contributed to $9,375. The first drop was held on Thursday, May 7th and 75 gift cards were distributed to each of the area hospitals; Doctor’s Hospital of Augusta, Augusta University Health and University Health Care System. The second drop was June 25th and over 55 gift cards were distributed to each of the three hospitals.

“Many people wanted to help!  This program helped provide food for the families of frontline healthcare workers while they are taking care of pandemic patients at work. It’s a win-win for two deserving industry segments.” Tammy Shepherd, President & CEO of the Columbia County Chamber.
