United Way of the CSRA Launches First-Ever Virtual Stuff the Bus
Monday, June 22nd, 2020
Even as the community continues to address the impacts of COVID-19, local students and teachers in the CSRA need help to achieve academic success in the 2020-2021 school year. While nobody knows exactly what learning environments across the CSRA will look like in the Fall, we do know students and teachers will still need adequate school supplies to succeed. United Way of the CSRA is bridging that gap while ensuring the community remains safe through our first ever Virtual Stuff the Bus school supply collection drive. All donated school supplies stay local and will be distributed to students and teachers in Columbia, Richmond, Burke, Lincoln, and surrounding counties in the CSRA.
Four donation options are available on www.uwcsra.org/stuffthebus. Participants can choose to purchase individual school supplies for students, a school supplies bundle, individual school supplies for teachers, or make a one-time donation on the website. In addition to traditional school supplies like pencils and notebooks, other supplies conducive for learning from home like headphones and printers are also available for purchase. Local teachers will be supported through Stuff the Bus as well. Hand sanitizer, paper towels, and other school supplies are available for purchase which will help support teachers to ensure their success.
“Ensuring students and teachers throughout our region have the right tools to learn in the coming school year is essential, especially right now” says Brittany Burnett, President & CEO of United Way of the CSRA. “As we are all adjusting to changes in the school environment, United Way is committed to help both students and teachers in the CSRA succeed, whether learning in the classroom or at home.”
