The year 2020 has been proven to be a challenge for most. From the Covid-19 pandemic, an uncertain economy, protest, riots and a turbulent election season, the year 2020 has created a great challenge for many people and their families. During these challenging times three non-profit organizations in Augusta, Georgia came together to form The Joseph Project. During a tumultuous time in our community the Joseph Project partnered with the USDA to serve, support and encourage many in Augusta Georgia. During the months from June to October the Joseph Project served more than 30,000 people with fresh produce, fruit, meat and dairy products in CSRA. Building off of this momentum The Joseph Project recently announced that they have partnered with other non-profits, fraternities, sororities, educators and stakeholders of the local community to ‘FEED 1000’ families Thanksgiving Meals. The Joseph Project was formed to serve, support and encourage families in our local community.

“We know how important the holidays are and to go without something like Thanksgiving meal can add to the stress and depression that the pandemic, an uncertain economy and a turbulent election season has brought to many,” commented a spokesperson from The Joseph Project. “We have seen how much of an encouragement helping the community with meals has been up to now, so we are sure this will be a huge success.”

The Joseph Project is a joint effort of City Church Augusta, Bethel Covenant Worship Center and Macedonia Family Church. Over the summer, in response to the coronavirus, it has provided over 10,000 free meals in the Augusta-area. It serves all community members regardless of their beliefs.

The Joseph Project goal is to provide 1000 Thanksgiving meals on November 21st. At least 50 more volunteers are needed to be able to run the giveaway smoothly.
