Richmond County School System Names Top Five Teacher of the Year Finalists

The Richmond County School System (RCSS) has named the five finalists for the 2021-22 Teacher of the Year.
The top five finalists for 2021-22 school year are: Monica P. Burnett, 5th grade teacher, Richmond Hill K-8 School; Robert L. Jackson, English/language arts department chair, Cross Creek High School; Vicki R. Knox, math teacher, Deer Chase Elementary School; Rebecca Potter, science teacher, Westside High School; and Keyona Wynn, 3rd grade teacher, Gracewood Elementary School.
Teachers of the Year are first selected by their respective schools and then submit applications to become a finalist for the RCSS Teacher of the Year. A panel reviews the applications to name the five finalists. The five finalists are then recorded teaching to their students. Based on the lessons and applications, a finalist is named.
The winner will be named during the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, October 19 beginning at 6 p.m.
