The Southern Bank is pleased to announce the acquisition of a new branch at 108 Barnwell Ave. NW, Aiken, S.C. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for the bank as it continues to expand its presence in the state of South Carolina.

The 3,400-sq.-ft. structure is located in downtown Aiken on a corner lot within walking distance to Aiken’s retail, restaurant, and entertainment district. This location will have plenty of parking for customers and a drive-thru. The Southern Bank will renovate the space to create offices, meeting spaces, a safekeeping room with deposit boxes, and a new facade for the building’s exterior.

The Aiken acquisition continues The Southern Bank’s goal of filling the community banking gap in South Carolina by opening new branches across the state. The Southern Bank plans to begin renovations on the Aiken property in April and open its doors to customers by the end of the year. Currently, the bank’s first South Carolina location in Greenville is fully operational and open to customers. A branch is under construction in Spartanburg, with plans to open its doors in the summer.

Until the branches open, the company’s digital banking platform provides customers with an omnichannel banking experience for business and personal accounts, allowing them to bank anywhere.
