Unisys Corporation today announced that it has selected Discovery Plaza, at One Seventh Street in Augusta, Georgia, as the permanent site of its newest client service center.

The 118,000-square-foot building is part of the scenic Augusta Riverwalk complex in the heart of the city. Unisys is currently using temporary office space in Augusta and anticipates occupying the new facility in the third quarter of 2015.

On November 3, 2014, Georgia Governor Nathan Deal announced that Unisys would locate the new service center in Augusta, potentially creating up to 700 local jobs over a five-year period.

Initially, Unisys will use the new center to provide IT support services to the U.S. Army, which recently selected Unisys for the Army Enterprise Service Desk, a single point of contact for Army personnel who need help desk or other end-user IT support services.

Unisys will also provide similar services to commercial clients through the new facility.

"We are excited about locating our new center in this great facility in Augusta," said Ron Frankenfield, president, Unisys Enterprise Solutions. "This will be one of three Unisys service centers in the United States delivering innovative solutions for our clients' mission-critical requirements. We look forward to being part of the Augusta business community and contributing to the growth of the region."

Added Venkatapathi "PV" Puvvada, president, Unisys Federal Systems, "We look forward to using the expanded resources and expertise of the Augusta center to continue our tradition of delivering superior customer service for the U.S. Army and other government and commercial clients."

Unisys continues to work with the Georgia Department of Labor and the nearby Fort Gordon Cyber Center of Excellence to recruit IT professionals, including Georgia veterans, for the new center.
