    All businesses have intellectual property and trade secrets. A company is in business because it is offering something of “value” which can be a number of things from product to process to promotion. The loss or misappropriation of such can be devastating to the success and profitability of a company. In a measure to further protect businesses, the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA) of 2016 was signed into law on May 11, 2016 after being unanimously passed in the Senate and ratified in the House. It creates a federal cause of action for trade secret misappropriation.

  • Gov. Deal, Lt. Gov. Cagle Visit Fort Gordon, Cybersecurity Training Facility

    Gov. Nathan Deal, along with Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, visited the Cyber Center of Excellence, a training facility for cyberspace operations at Fort Gordon, and attended a mission briefing. The briefing was designed to provide state leaders with a greater understanding of the various cyber entities housed at Fort Gordon, how they work together and the tactical missions.

    The Leadership Georgia Board of Trustees recently announced the 2017 Class of Leadership Georgia. Sixty-three participants were selected from a pool of several hundred candidates. With a principal focus on “Georgia A State of Mind,” the 2017 Class of Leadership Georgia will travel to Brasstown Valley, Jesup, Jekyll Island, Perry and Brasselton.

  • Georgia Chamber Eggs and Issues: Government Leaders Optimistically Address Initiatives, State’s Future

    Georgia’s top elected officials addressed their priorities and proposals to nearly 2,000 attendees at the Chamber of Commerce “Eggs and Issues Breakfast,” on Tuesday. The meeting coincided with the 2017 state legislative session opening this week.
