Barry White Accepts New Position with Chattanooga CVB

Barry White announced his resignation from the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. where he has served as President and Chief Executive Officer for the past 23 years. His long-standing career in Augusta began in 1991 as Director of Sales for the ACVB. White is touted as a community champion who has led the charge enhancing Augusta’s River Region and as a pioneer for projects such as the Augusta Convention Center’s Exhibit Hall and Destination Blueprint, among many others.  
 
“It has been a privilege working with Barry,” said ACVB Chair, Dennis Skelley. “The Board would like to express our gratitude for his continued professionalism and wish Barry the best in his new endeavors. We will convene after the holidays to discuss plans to establish a search committee to select the organization’s next CEO and define actions moving forward. The ACVB will continue its commitment to the city of Augusta, pursuing and achieving the vision and objectives of the organization.”
 
White will finish out his 26-year tenure in Augusta on February 13th, before moving on to the Chattanooga Area CVB where he will serve as President and CEO.
 
“Living and working in the Augusta community has truly been an honor and a privilege,” said White. “The Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau has laid the groundwork for an exciting future which I’m grateful to have been a part of and will continue to support. Augusta’s River Region has much to be proud of and will continue to be a spearhead of innovation and growth in the years to come.”
 
White is a Tennessee native and a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing. He is certified by the United States Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organizational Management and is a Certified Destination Management Executive by Destination’s International.
