12th Annual IRONMAN Augusta Cancelled for 2020

The IRONMAN® Group has announced that the IRONMAN 70.3® Augusta will not take place on Sunday, September 27, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will return on September 26, 2021. All registered athletes of the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta will be receiving an email with further information.

“Ensuring the safety of the athletes and the members of our community is our top priority for any event that our organization hosts” said Brian Graham, CEO of the Augusta Sports Council. “While we are not able to host the event this year, we look forward to welcoming athletes from all over the world back to Augusta in 2021.”  

This annual event which has been held in Augusta since 2009, is the largest 70.3® in North America and one of the largest in the world. The 2019 event consisted of 3,600 registered athletes representing 49 states and 29 countries. Since its inception in 2009, the IRONMAN® 70.3® Augusta has generated more than $25 million dollars in economic impact for the city of Augusta and local volunteer groups have been awarded a total of $143,943 in volunteerism grants from the IRONMAN Foundation.
