Paceline Presents $400,000 to Georgia Cancer Center from 2022 Fundraising

Local non-profit Paceline has presented a check for $400,000 to the Georgia Cancer Center for innovative cancer research thanks to its community of fundraisers, donors, and local community & corporate partners. Over 400 riders participated in Paceline’s signature bike ride in October, making it the largest event to-date for the organization.

Paceline’s 2022 fundraising brings the cumulative total raised to well over $1 million dollars since its first event in 2019. 100% of all participant-raised dollars supports research at the GCC thanks to the operational funding by the MCG Foundation and Corporate Partners including Georgia Power, Southern Nuclear, and Synovus Bank.

With a Paceline grant, Georgia Cancer Center researchers are given a significant leg-up to kickstart their projects; that means less time is spent searching for funding and more time spent in the lab. The Paceline community has already funded thirteen innovative cancer research projects at GCC ranging in topics from cancer prevention to advancing treatments for multiple types of cancer, as well as addressing racial disparities in cancer outcomes. Specific grant award winners from 2022 funds will be announced later this Spring.

During the check presentation ceremony, which took place Thursday evening at the Georgia Cancer Center, Paceline also recognized outstanding participants and teams from PaceDay; awards included Top Fundraiser, Top Community and Corporate Teams, Top Volunteer, Rookie of the Year, and more.

PaceDay Weekend 2023 is set for October 14-15. Registration for the event will open February 15 and have a $0 registration fee.

Paceline’s next fundraising event is a golf tournament called the Cure Cancer Classic. It will be held May 5 at Forest Hills Golf Club. Registration is currently open with sponsorship opportunities also available.
