Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and its partners are preparing to host more than 2.5 million passengers during the Independence Day holiday period from Thursday, June 29, through Thursday, July 6. Friday, July 30, is projected to be the busiest day with nearly 367,000 passengers traveling through ATL.

“As we approach the bustling Independence Day travel period and peak of the summer season our advice is plan ahead,” said Airport General Manager Balram “B” Bheodari. “Passengers should arrive early and utilize the many available resources provided by ATL and our partners for a smooth, enjoyable journey.”

As ATL works to ease congestion and facilitate passenger travel during this busy holiday travel period, the Airport is offering 30-minute grace periods at all parking lots to allow visitors to wait for travelers free of charge. Additionally, ATL is doubling the number of terminal-to-terminal shuttles to provide efficiency for passengers traveling between the International and Domestic terminals.

To ensure a seamless travel experience, note the following travel tips:

  • Plan Ahead: Check flight status and any potential travel advisories before heading to the Airport.
  • Arrive Early: Arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights to allow ample time for check-in, security screening and navigating through the Airport.
  • Pack Smart: Review TSA guidelines to ensure carry-on and checked luggage comply with regulations. Be mindful of prohibited items, such as firearms and other weapons, to avoid delays at security checkpoints. Visit the “What Can I Bring?” page on the TSA website (TSA.gov), text “TRAVEL” to AskTSA (275-872) or contact @AskTSA via Twitter.com for assistance.
  • Stay Informed: The Airport’s website (www.ATL.com) provides real-time updates on parking availability, security wait times and current concessionaire offerings. The Airport’s social media channels (@ATLAirport) also offer helpful, immediate operational information.

As passengers travel through ATL, they are encouraged to shop, dine and explore over 300 restaurants, shops and services easily accessible from any gate via the ATL Plane Train. For a complete list of concessionaires available on each concourse, visit ATL.com/skypointe.
