Augusta Regional Airport & Skyworx Innovation Xchange Host 5th Annual Innovation Xchange Forum

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, March 21st, 2024

Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) and Skyworx Innovation Xchange hosted the fifth Annual Innovation Xchange Forum focused on unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and cyber security related to UAS. Once again, the event included sessions on advanced air mobility (AAM), including electric aircraft and air taxis. The event was held at Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center in downtown Augusta, Georgia on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

The Innovation Xchange was developed to disseminate information and encourage collaboration between disparate groups working on similar programs in the UAS/AAM industry. Speakers included participants from academia, military, government, and private industry. More than 150 individuals, reflecting the same diverse groups as the speakers, registered for and attended the event.  As in the past, this year’s program concluded with live demonstrations of UAS vehicles.

“We are excited to host this collaborative event,” stated Herbert Judon, Jr., Executive Director, Augusta Regional Airport. “AGS strives to be at the leading edge of these nascent technologies, positioning AGS to be an optimal location for these new aerospace businesses. Additionally, we would like to congratulate SkyDrive, Inc and Bravo Air for their execution of a Letter of Intent, with Bravo Air agreeing to purchase up to five aircraft while working with SkyDrive and the Airport to develop business use cases from AGS.”

The 5th Annual Innovation Xchange would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors and supporters. Sponsors included Georgia Tech/ATDC, Georgia Power, Nine Ten Drones, SkyDrive Inc., AUVSI Georgia Chapter, Georgia Center of Innovation, Mead & Hunt, NetJets, and VOLATUS Infrastructure. A special thanks to the Augusta EDA and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office!

The Innovation Xchange is operated by AGS staff and the Augusta Aviation Commission (AAC). It is intended to encourage interest and innovation in the aerospace industry by providing a collaborative environment.
