E-Z-Go Celebrates 60 Years

Wednesday, February 26th, 2014

Diamond anniversaries in the golf industry are rare feats. To reach the 60-year milestone means you’ve maintained a level of trust, not merely with the industry-types, but also with golfers through each passing generation who’ve relied on your dependability, quality and performance standards. It’s a notable achievement, and E-Z-Go has earned it.

Though golfers may not think about a golf car Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) the same way it would a club, ball or footwear company, E-Z-Go’s place in this game is assured. It has kept up with the multiple requirements and demands of golf courses worldwide and has reached a point where 60 years after it was founded it is considered one of the game’s most distinguished and admired names. Quietly, but with a measure of pride, the Augusta, Ga.-headquartered company will celebrate that throughout this 2014 season.

“We’re humbled because we know that our success would not be possible without the support of our customers in the golf industry, many of whom have been loyal to E-Z-Go throughout its existence,” said Kevin Holleran, president of E-Z-Go, at the PGA Merchandise Show last month. “As a company we’re excited to celebrate our diamond anniversary and mark six decades of leadership in light transportation and service to the golf industry.”

Coinciding with reaching the 60-year plateau are several new product initiatives for the brand this year. E-Z-Go has opted for a complete redesign of its popular TXT golf car (pictured right) along with a redo of the Freedom TXT.

Something I was not aware of until spending time with the brand in Orlando was E-Z-Go’s commitment to the environment through its ‘green’ platform. For example, the Freedom TXT features a zero-emissions 48-volt electric drive-train, foam seating made of 100 per cent recycled materials, sloped surface design requiring less water for cleaning and fully recyclable plastic components. That’s just for starters. Much like a car or truck, every aspect of an E-Z-Go vehicle is considered for passenger convenience.
