Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Thursday, January 28th, 2016

The Family YMCA of Greater Augusta will break ground on the renovations of the new Thomson Family YMCA on Tuesday, February 9, at 11:00 am. The future home of the Thomson Family YMCA is located at the former University Hospital McDuffie County building, 521 Hill Street, Thomson.

“With this new building for the Thomson YMCA, we’re looking forward to joining forces with this community for a better tomorrow”, says Danny McConnell, President/CEO for the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta. “We’re so excited to see what the future holds for Thomson and the surrounding counties and communities with this facility.”

Groundbreaking ceremony guests will also be able to witness the start of the demolition during the event. The YMCA is still raising funds for this building with a community capital campaign. While the capital campaign is active, the YMCA is also raising funds for our Annual Fund, which provides yearly scholarships for youth, individuals and families to enjoy the Thomson YMCA.

Renovations on the building are expected to be complete by January 2017. Lunch will be served for ceremony guests. For more information on how you can support one or both of these campaigns, please call Dede Keir at 706-595-5615.
