Manufacturing Summit for High School Students Today

The Augusta Economic Development Authority and the Richmond County School System are sponsoring a Manufacturing Summit for high school students in Richmond County. The event begins on March 31st at 9:00 AM at the T.W. Josey High School gymnasium.
 
The purpose of the summit to increase student awareness of the manufacturing careers that are available in Augusta Richmond County.  High school students will be able to tour a manufacturing facility and learn about the potential careers from an actual employees.
 
Two hundred students from ten area high schools applied to participate in the summit and were selected to participate in this program.
 
The event opens with a pep rally and guest speaker to introduce the program.  After the rally, students in groups of 20 will head to their designated manufacturing facility for the tour and talk.  After a lunch at the facility, the students will return to their respective school.
 
Some of facilities include: Olin, DSM, PQ Corp., Elanco, PCS Nitrogen, Textron, and Medtronic.
