Elanco Employees Engaging in Annual Day of Service Today

On Thursday, more than 100 volunteers from Elanco Animal Health’s Augusta Technology Center will work from morning to evening to provide community service at nine locations in the Augusta area as part of the company’s 2016 Global Day of Service. The Augusta manufacturing plant, which is part of the animal health and protein production business of Eli Lilly and Company, will participate in the company’s ninth annual event. Including Augusta, more than 24,000 Lilly and Elanco employees in over 70 countries will take part in Global Day of Service volunteer activities.

Since Elanco and Lilly launched the Global Day of Service in 2008, employees have given more than 825,000 hours through Global Day of Service initiatives to communities – making it one of the largest, single-day volunteer programs in the world.

Locally, Elanco volunteers will be:

• Preparing and serving meals at the Masters Table Soup Kitchen

• Working in the Golden Harvest Garden which provides fresh produce used in food served to guests at the soup kitchen

• Assisting senior citizens with crafts at the Sand Hills Community Center

• Building table and benches for outside the clinic, landscaping in and around clinic and dog park, and engaging in socialization activities with the cats and dogs at the SPCA Albrecht Center in nearby Aiken, SC

• Painting and upkeep activities, and changing out a water heater at Golden Harvest Food Bank Warehouse

• Repairing and building gate, brick path, containment curb, bench and small dog ramp; pruning, clearing and mulching beds at the Pendleton King Park dog park

• Cleaning debris and trash on Stallings Island

• Cutting lumber, assembling, painting and delivering beds to local people in need through Restart Augusta

• Building shelving, water sealing decking, and trail maintenance at Phinizy Swamp
