Plant Vogtle Access Roadwork Moves in Monday

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Friday, August 11th, 2017

Two busy Burke County routes will benefit from double surface treatment rehab starting Monday.

As weather allows, Everett Dykes Grassing Company will begin work on State Route 80 from the SR 56 SPUR to the SR 56 Junction Monday morning. Patching and resurfacing should take around one week to complete with Monday through Friday daily work hours.

When done with SR 80, crews shift to the 6.7-mile portion of SR 56 SPUR (River Road).

Expect delays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Flagging stations and pilot cars will be used. Contractors will move as quickly as possible to be out before the end of the month to lessen Plant Vogtle traffic impacts.

This activity falls under a $3.81 million contract to rehab 35.8 total miles spread across four east central Georgia counties.
