Wednesday, September 19th, 2018

Walton Options for Independent Living, a leading resource organization for persons with disabilities, announced the addition of a new member to its Board of Directors. During the August meeting, members voted and welcomed Mike Griggs of Evans to the Board.

Griggs, a former US Army Colonel, brings over 30 years of experience and expertise in communication and IT training specialist to the Walton Options governing body. His tenure includes time at Fort Gordon, West Point, and Washington University during which he supported the USA Cyber Center of Excellence, the United States Military Academy, and US Army Cadet Command.

"Walton Options provides outstanding resources and services to the disabled members of our community and I look forward to supporting this outstanding team,” explained new member Mike Griggs. “With the growth our community will be seeing in the coming years, specifically in Army Cyber and IT communities, my hope is my IT background and military experience will benefit the Walton Options team. With a great team, a great mission, and the growing community, I am humbled to be able to support Walton Options in any way that I can."

The Walton Options Board of Directors is a consumer driven board. This means that 51% of those serving on the Board have a disability themselves. Some members are even previous consumers.

“As the director of Walton Options, I am always pleased when we are able to add talent to our board,” explained Tiffany Clifford, Executive Director of Walton Options for Independent Living. “For us, Mike brings a connection and perspective from our military personnel and veterans who we proudly serve.”

The Board of Directors meets bi-monthly at the Augusta Office on Walton Way.
