Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Tuesday, October 1st, 2019

The National Federation of the Blind of Georgia (NFBGA) will host its 46th Annual State Convention in Augusta from October 4-6, 2019. The meeting will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Augusta to educate and empower blind people from around the state of Georgia while discussing, presenting, and strategizing around issues, concerns, and legislation pertinent to blind Georgians who are members of the NFBGA.

150-200 members are expected to attend the NFBGA State Convention, however, the event is open to all who share the hopes and dreams of our nation’s blind.

Each year, the NFBGA travels across the state empowering blind Georgians with the tools necessary to achieve independence and live their best lives. The NFBGA recognizes that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future.

“Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams,” said President Dorothy Griffin. “You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.”
