Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Monday, March 16th, 2020

Currently, the Richmond County School System does not have a confirmed case of the coronavirus in our schools. However, due to public health concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic and with sensitivity to concerns across the nation, the last day for Richmond County School System students will be Monday March 16, 2020. The RCSS will remain closed for students until further notice.

“The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” said Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw, Superintendent of Schools. “I am asking everyone to continue to follow health department guidelines to keep yourselves and your families safe.”

Students can access distance learning materials from their teachers and on our website at www.rcboe.org/distancelearning. Teachers will distribute distance learning information on Monday March 16, 2020. Distance learning will be available online on Wednesday March 18, 2020.

The last day for teachers to report to school will be Tuesday March 17, 2020. Central Office staff will continue to report through March 18, 2020.

On Monday March 16, 2020, the School Nutrition Department will send home food for students for Tuesday March 17, 2020. School feeding sites will be implemented beginning Wednesday March 18, 2020. Exact locations and times will be announced.

During this time, the RCSS will be cleaning and disinfecting all school buildings and offices to prepare for the return of students and staff.
