Since 2009, $540,000 in college scholarships has been presented to graduating high school students as part of the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) Family Scholarship Program.

This year, 15 sons and daughters of SRNS employees were each awarded a $3,000 scholarship.

“Though the winning students are graded and selected based on ability, leadership, community service, scholastic assessments and achievement,” said Stuart MacVean, SRNS President and CEO.

“The level of maturity, dedication and sense of responsibility displayed by these same students,
as described on the nomination forms, is impressive as well. We hope many of these students, like their parents, will one day join the SRNS family.”

More than 160 students have benefitted from the SRNS Family Scholarship Program since its inception.

“This scholarship is important to me because it is a solid affirmation that all the work I’ve put into my academics is worth it,” said Kolbe Dolin, a student at Alleluia Community School in Augusta, Ga. He is the son of David Dolin, a Nuclear and Criticality Safety Engineer within the SRNS Chief Engineer organization.

“The scholarship will positively impact my college career and help with student debt. I greatly appreciate the generosity of SRNS. This program shows the level of care that SRNS has for its employees and their children,” he added.

Dolin participates in a volunteer program that meets one Saturday each month to assist with repairs and general maintenance at his school, which receives no public funding.
