Cameron Nixon Joins Ameris Bank as Augusta Market President

Ameris Bank Regional President Remer Brinson announces that Cameron Nixon has joined Ameris Bank as market president in Augusta. As part of Ameris Bank’s entry into the market, and build out of its banking team, Nixon will be responsible for growing the Augusta team of bankers, establishing banking relationships and growing the bank’s community involvement throughout the area.

Nixon has over 32 years of experience within the banking industry. Prior to joining Ameris Bank, he worked for Cadence Bank as regional president of the East Georgia region. In that position, he was responsible for business development for the region and directly oversaw commercial lending and administrative support staff. Nixon held the same position with State Bank & Trust Company for four years until they were acquired by Candence Bank in February 2019.

A dedicated community supporter, Nixon currently serves as a board member of the CSRA Business Lending (past chair), the Augusta University Foundation, the GA-Carolina Council Boy Scouts of America, the Downtown Development Authority (past chairman) and the Tuttle-Newton Home (past president). Additionally, he is currently the investment committee chair for the Augusta University Foundation, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Augusta (past president), a trustee for Historic Augusta (past chairman), Inc. and a member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, serving as a vestry member and past treasurer. Previously, Nixon was involved with Child Enrichment, Inc. (past board member and president), Episcopal Day School (past chairman), Westobou Festival (past chairman) and Richmond Academy Boosters Club (past president). He is also an Eagle Scout.

Nixon graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
