The Paine College Department of Humanities will celebrate its 23rd Anniversary of the Evelyn G. Etheridge Conference on the Harlem Renaissance from October 28-29, 2020 at Paine College in Augusta, Georgia.

This year’s conference will be held virtually. The conference invites undergraduate and graduate students, and independent scholars to present research that will examine the origins and the legacy of the Renaissance through interdisciplinary collaborations. There are 300 members expected to attend the 2020 Evelyn G. Etheridge Conference of the Harlem Renaissance. Each year, the conference examines the national and international impact of one of the most influential artistic and cultural movements in history spanning from 1919 to 1940. This year’s conference also celebrates the Harlem Renaissance turning 100, as this year’s theme is “Centennial Reflections on the Harlem Renaissance: Reawakening the Black Consciousness in the 21st Century”.
