Engineering and construction firm Bechtel has donated $25,000 to ForcesUnited in honor of Veteran’s Day, November 11, as part of this year's "11 to 11 Campaign”.

“ForcesUnited is improving the lives of veterans by helping them with everything from housing and education to employment and wellness. For the past few months, as part of Operation COVID Shield, we have been focusing heavily on helping veterans affected by COVID,” said Victoria Hann, the president and CEO of ForcesUnited. “This donation will go a long way and will help many brave men and women who have served our country. We appreciate Bechtel and its dedication to our veterans.”

Bechtel is responsible for completing construction of Vogtle Units 3 and 4 under the management of Southern Nuclear, the Southern Company subsidiary that operates the existing two units at Plant Vogtle. Vogtle Units 3 and 4 are the first Westinghouse AP1000 units to be built in the U.S.

“We are fortunate to have hundreds of veterans working on Vogtle Units 3 and 4. We value the tremendous contribution these individuals make every day, and we are proud that they are a part of our team,” said Bechtel Project Director Brian Reilly. “We understand the importance of supporting them in our community, too. We also know this has been a tough year for everyone because of COVID and support now for our veterans is more important than ever.”

Bechtel has completed more than 74,000 megawatts of new nuclear generation capacity and has performed engineering and/or construction services on more than 80 percent of nuclear plants in the United States and 150 plants worldwide.
