The Dental College of Georgia launches journal with international reach

The Dental College of Georgia has launched a new journal. Dentistry Review will be an open-access publication for review-based research in the clinical dental disciplines. “This project will further elevate the status of the DCG within the global dental community and evolve into one of the premier sources of reliable clinical science,” said Dr. Todd R. Schoenbaum.

September is National  Suicide Prevention Month 

September is National Suicide Prevention Month and the Medical College of Georgia, through the Choose Life Project, is doing its part to raise awareness with the goal of saving lives. “We want to decrease the stigma of reaching out for help and empower everyone to know that reaching out when they are not OK is strength, not a weakness,” said Dr. Martha S. Tingen, the project director for Choose Life. There will be several events and campaigns during the month of September.

Augusta University celebrates Constitution Day

Constitution Day and Citizenship Day will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 at the Douglas Barnard Amphitheater on the Augusta University Summerville Campus. In addition to a public reading of the U.S. Constitution, the League of Women Voters will be on hand for voter registration.

 

Grad student and husband look to expand doughnut business

Master of Arts in Teaching graduate student Cara Miller, along with her husband, have opened Haute Doughnuts, a vegan doughnut shop. “We didn’t realize our doughnuts would be so popular,” said Cara Miller. “So it’s time to upgrade. We would rather purchase a space than rent a space and would like to stay near the Augusta University area.” Miller, a former Atlanta Falcons cheerleader, is also a full-time fifth-grade teacher in Richmond County while she helps manage the business, which they are looking to expand.
